Mila's Preschool Lunch Ideas & Quick Snack Ideas - Take Two

Last month I shared a few lunches I made for Mila. Mila goes to preschool a few days a week and making her lunch in the morning is one thing I truly love to do. Honestly, my lunches are NOT revolutionary. They are simple, healthy and Mila eats pretty much all of it at school. Which is a plus for me. We do have a little rule, whatever she doesn’t finish at school she has to finish after school while back at home. Typically whats left over is a few carrots, berries or half her sandwich. She never fights me (not yet anyways ;) on eating her leftover lunch. Mila usually is the one to asks to finish her lunch while in the car on the ride back home.

We have been loving these Yumbox bento style lunch boxes. We have a three different sizes and I use the two larger ones for preschool lunches and the smaller one to carry snacks on the go. I love these Yumbox lunch boxes because they are sturdy, seal the food within and keeps it fresh, and can come apart for easy cleaning. Check out what Mila has been eating during lunch and snack time below …

Mila likes turkey and cheddar rolls and sun butter (sunflower seed butter that looks, tastes and has the same texture as peanut butter) with jam rolls. I like that the rolls fit nicely into the lunch box and the shape is fun for the little ones to eat!

I also unwrap a fruit leather and roll it up to fit into the lunch box. I’ll also put little fruit snacks or yogurt covered raisins in that tiny space in the center.

If you buy a whole pomegranate you just cut it in half and use the back of a large spoon and pat it until all the seeds pop out. We usually go through one or two pomegranates a week. Mila likes to eat them solo, but you can top your cereal, salads and yogurts with them!

In this lunch here I’ve loaded up on fruit with raspberries, mango pieces, and plum slices. Two mini chocolate chip cookies and a portion of brown rice with black beans.

This Yumbox here is the Panino style!

Like I said, my lunches for Mila aren’t the most ground breaking. But I love them and so does Mila. I try to give her a bunch of fruit and veggie options. So far she enjoys cut carrots and snap peas the best. Mila also likes sliced cheese rather than string cheese. Which is great because I can cut it into cute shapes. Some things I put into her lunch that are store bought snacks include; goldfish crackers, RX Kids Bars, organic fruit leather strips, pretzel sticks, organic fruit snacks, yogurt covered raisins and yogurts. To me these are the more healthier options out there, but really find what works for your child and family!

Happy Lunch Making!
