A Weekly Dinner Staple - Quick & Easy Cajun Sweet Potato Fries!
Every week I find myself making a few of the same things over and over again. Mostly because they are easy and because whenever I make them it is guaranteed that my whole family will eat up. Things like Taco Bowls, Meatballs, Enchilada Soup (during the colder months), and these Cajun Sweet Potato Fries. (You can click on the foods just listed for the recipes) We eat these at least once a week and I also make extra for Dan because they are his favorite. He likes to mix them with scrambled eggs the following morning or eat cold straight from the fridge.
Honestly, if you don’t make your own fries I think you should start soon! They are so simple to toss together and you can season them anyway you like. If cajon seasoning isn’t your jam. Try dried rosemary, garlic, and parmesan OR taco seasoning is delicious too! We typically use sweet potatoes because we love their sweet taste along with the savory spices. Though you can use golden, red, or russet potatoes too. Below is how I put together mine …
What You Need
3-4 Sweet Potatoes (Or any kind of potatoes you like best)
3 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
1/2 Teaspoon of Sea Salt
1 Teaspoon of Ground Pepper
1 Tablespoon of Cajun Seasoning
One Large Baking Sheet
Oven Set For 350 Degrees
What You Do
First wash and dry your potatoes.
Then cut them into fry sticks. I like to cut them quite thick. Try to cut them relatively the same size so they all cook at the same time. Though some may be smaller and bake crisper than others which is totally fine!
Next drizzle the fries with olive oil.
Sprinkle your salt and pepper evenly across all the fries.
Next, sprinkle your favorite cajun seasoning evenly across all the fries. Then with your hands, massage all the oil and spices into each fry.
Bake the fries for about 15-20 minutes and use tongs to flip them half way through their cooking time. Use a fork to check if the fries are cooked through and ready. If the fork easy goes in and out of the fry then they are ready. To make them extra crispy, turn off the oven and let the fries sit in the oven until it is time to eat dinner! This way they stay hot and get a little extra cooking time to make them a bit more crisp.
